Welcome to the Grapevine Historical Society

Monday, April 22 General Meeting --
Gangster in Grapevine: Herbert Noble

Dallas gambling kingpin Herbert Noble was nicknamed "The Cat" because he seemed to have nine lives, having escaped death from rival gangland types on multiple occasions. He owned a sprawling ranch property, located suitably far away from prying eyes, just north of Grapevine. It was there, on August 11, 1951, that his luck ran out when a bomb killed him and destroyed his car. Despite massive law enforcement efforts, his killers were never caught.

Peter Kurilecz will tell us of this man who lived and died on the wrong side of the law. Mr. Kurilecz is a native Dallasite who wrote about Herbert Noble in the spring 2021 issue of LEGACIES magazine.
