Grapevine's Professional Baseball Drafts
Turner Elementary School came with a sandlot, and in the 1940’s and 1950’s it provided hours of unstructured play in this still segregated part of Grapevine. Three neighborhood boys from The Hill community developed athletic skills that lifted them to heights beyond Grapevine and into the professional ranks of baseball’s minor league farm teams.
Their travels exposed them to the outside world where they continued to develop a work ethic that followed them past their baseball careers. Each went on to be a positive contributor to community, including military and many other facets of life.
The program with baseball players Watts, Chambers and Ennis will be moderated by Bob Ray Sanders, an award winning Fort Worth journalist whose career spanned four decades in newspaper, radio and television.
Join us at Grapevine Public Library, 7:00 pm on January 27 for another interesting program. Our meetings are free, open to the public and refreshments will be served.
